Liliana Segre

Liliana Segre is an Italian politician, activist, and Holocaust survivor who has served as a Senator for life since 2018. Born in Milan, she was deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp at the age of thirteen in 1944, where she was subjected to forced labor and lost most of her family. After the war, she became a prominent public witness to the horrors of the Holocaust, dedicating her life to educating younger generations against racism, antisemitism, and indifference. In 2021, she was appointed president of the Extraordinary Commission for the fight against intolerance, racism, antisemitism, and incitement to hatred and violence. As a legislator, she is a vocal advocate for human rights and democratic values.
