Macky Sall is a Senegalese politician who served as the President of Senegal from 2012 to 2024. A trained geological engineer and geophysicist, he previously held high-ranking government posts including Minister of Mines, Energy and Hydraulics, Minister of the Interior, Prime Minister, and President of the National Assembly under President Abdoulaye Wade. After breaking with Wade, he founded the Alliance for the Republic and went on to win the 2012 presidential election, later securing re-election in 2019 before stepping down in 2024.
