María Milagros Charbonier

María Milagros Charbonier is a Puerto Rican lawyer and politician who served as a member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives from 2013 to 2020. A member of the New Progressive Party, she also held the position of Secretary General of the party and chaired the House Judiciary Commission. Throughout her career, she drew public attention for her traditional and conservative stances, particularly regarding LGBT issues. In August 2020, she resigned from her seat following an FBI arrest and was subsequently convicted in 2024 on federal corruption charges related to a kickback and bribery scheme.
