Masakazu Sekiguchi is a Japanese politician and dentist currently serving as the 34th and 35th President of the House of Councillors. Born in Minano, Saitama, he practiced dentistry before entering politics, serving three terms in the Saitama Prefectural Assembly. First elected to the House of Councillors in 2003, he has held several key positions within the Liberal Democratic Party, including Chairman of the LDP Caucus in the House of Councillors. He is known for his conservative policy stances, supporting constitutional reform, the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities, and the maintenance of the current security framework. In 2024, he became the first post-war born individual to serve as President of the House of Councillors.
