Masashi Tanaka is a Japanese politician and physical therapist currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, he graduated from the Seikeikai Second Medical College in 1987 and later earned a master's degree from Hokusho University. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished career in physical therapy, serving as a lecturer at the Chitose Institute of Rehabilitation and holding leadership roles within the Japanese Physical Therapy Association and the Japanese Physical Therapist Federation. Tanaka previously served one term as a member of the House of Councillors after being elected via proportional representation in 2023. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2026 representing the Tokyo proportional block.
