Michael Dean Crapo is an American lawyer and politician serving as a United States Senator from Idaho since 1999. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 1999 and in the Idaho State Senate, where he was president pro tempore. Known for his conservative political positions, Crapo is a strong proponent of nuclear energy and has held leadership roles on the Senate Finance Committee. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University and Harvard Law School.
