Monique Chandler-Waterman is an American politician and community organizer serving as a member of the New York State Assembly for the 58th district since May 2022. Born in New York City to parents from Jamaica and Barbados, she founded the youth-focused nonprofit East Flatbush Village in 2008 and previously worked as a community outreach director for Jumaane Williams. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as the director of ground support for New York City’s Test and Trace Corps. In the State Assembly, she has advocated for legislation such as mandates for two-person crews on MTA subway trains.
