Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan

Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh since November 2022. A member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and the Perikatan Nasional coalition, he gained national attention for defeating incumbent Nurul Izzah Anwar in the 2022 general election, ending a 40-year hold on the seat by the family of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. During his tenure, he has been a controversial figure, notably advocating for restrictions on alcohol sales to non-Muslims and making provocative remarks regarding student financial struggles. He currently serves as the Penang State Information Chief for his party.
