Olivia Chow is a Canadian politician serving as the 66th mayor of Toronto since 2023. Born in British Hong Kong, she immigrated to Canada in 1970 and began her political career as a school board trustee in 1985. She served as a long-time city councillor in Toronto and later as a Member of Parliament for Trinity—Spadina from 2006 to 2014. A member of the New Democratic Party, Chow is known for her advocacy on public transit, affordable housing, and social equity. As mayor, she has focused on implementing property tax reforms, protecting renters, and securing new funding agreements with the provincial government.
