Parmjeet Parmar

Parmjeet Parmar is a New Zealand politician currently serving as a Member of the New Zealand House of Representatives for the ACT party. Born in India, she moved to New Zealand in 1995 and earned a PhD in biological sciences from the University of Auckland. Before entering politics, she worked as a scientist, a business director, and a radio host. First elected to Parliament in 2014 as a National Party member, she later switched to ACT and was re-elected in 2023. Her political career has focused on education, science, and innovation, and she is known for her advocacy regarding small businesses and her opposition to race-based university policies.
