A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the Secretary of State of Texas from 2004 to 2007. Before entering politics, Williams was a successful automobile dealer and a college baseball coach at Texas Christian University. Throughout his congressional tenure, he has focused on fiscal policy and small business issues, currently serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business.
