Rui Xu

Rui Xu is an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives for the 25th district, a position he has held since 2019. Born in Basel, Switzerland, to Chinese parents, he moved to the United States at age two and was raised in Rolla, Missouri. Xu holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Southern California and previously worked as a marketing analyst and sports analyst. As the first Chinese American to serve in the Kansas Legislature, he has focused his legislative work on education, financial institutions, and climate change. Politically, he is a proponent of LGBTQ rights and reproductive healthcare access, consistently opposing efforts to restrict abortion in the state.
