Ruth Coppinger

Ruth Coppinger is an Irish politician and secondary school teacher currently serving as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin West constituency. A prominent member of the Socialist Party, she has been a vocal advocate for secularism, abortion rights, and housing reform. Coppinger previously served on the Fingal County Council and made history in 2016 as the first female nominee for the office of Taoiseach. Her political career is defined by her activism against austerity measures, support for the MeToo movement, and efforts to address gender-based violence and social inequality in Ireland.
