Ryo Takizawa is a Japanese politician and lawyer currently serving as the Mayor of Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture. Born in 1986 in the former Shimoda Village, he graduated from Hitotsubashi University and later completed his studies at the University of Tokyo Law School. Before entering politics, he practiced as a lawyer and established his own law firm in Sanjo. First elected as mayor in 2020, he was re-elected unopposed in 2024. During his tenure, he has focused on regional revitalization, including partnerships with local outdoor brands, and the implementation of a municipal partnership and family-ship system for same-sex couples.
