Ryosei Akazawa is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A graduate of the University of Tokyo and Cornell University, he began his career in the Ministry of Transport before entering politics in 2005. Throughout his career, he has held numerous high-level government positions, including Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy, and Minister for Economic Revitalization. Known as a close ally of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Akazawa has been heavily involved in economic policy, trade negotiations, and disaster prevention. He is a proponent of constitutional reform, including the formal recognition of the Self-Defense Forces, and has maintained a consistent focus on regional revitalization and national resilience throughout his tenure.
