Yasuyuki Sakai is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing Aichi Prefecture. He has held several government positions, including State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, State Minister of Cabinet Office, and State Minister for Reconstruction. Before his national career, he served as a member of the Aichi Prefectural Assembly and the Kariya City Council. Sakai is known for his conservative political stances, supporting constitutional reform, including the inclusion of the Self-Defense Forces in Article 9, and the establishment of emergency provisions. He has been a member of the Liberal Democratic Party throughout his legislative career.
