Hiromi Mitsubayashi

Profile

Hiromi Mitsubayashi is a Japanese politician and physician serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A graduate of Nihon University's School of Medicine, he previously held academic positions as a professor at the Nippon Dental University. Throughout his political career, he has served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and as State Minister of Cabinet Office. Mitsubayashi is known for his conservative policy stances, including support for constitutional revision and opposition to selective separate surnames for married couples. In 2024, he was involved in a political funding scandal regarding undisclosed kickbacks from party factions, which led to a temporary suspension of his party duties and his non-endorsement by the Liberal Democratic Party in the 50th general election. He subsequently returned to the Diet following the 2026 general election.
