Shavkat Mirziyoyev

Shavkat Mirziyoyev is an Uzbek politician serving as the President of Uzbekistan since 2016. He previously served as the third Prime Minister of Uzbekistan from 2003 to 2016 under President Islam Karimov. After Karimov's death, Mirziyoyev was appointed interim president before winning election later that year, and was subsequently re-elected in 2021 and 2023. His administration has pursued political, economic, and constitutional reforms aimed at opening the country's economy, attracting foreign investment, and improving diplomatic relations across Central Asia and internationally.
