Stephan Jersch is a German politician and a member of the Hamburg Parliament. Born in 1963 in Rheydt, he has been active in politics for several decades, having previously been a member of the SPD and the DKP before joining the PDS, which later became The Left. Jersch served as the parliamentary group leader for The Left in the Bergedorf district assembly from 2008 to 2014. He was first elected to the Hamburg Parliament in 2015 and has served multiple terms, most recently returning to the legislature in 2025. Outside of his political career, he works as a programmer and resides in the Bergedorf district of Hamburg.
