Stephan Tautz is a German politician who has served as the Mayor of Völklingen since October 1, 2024. He made history as the first independent candidate to be elected to this position in the Saarland region, winning a runoff election in June 2024 with 57.06% of the vote. Before entering politics, Tautz worked as a technical draftsman and project manager in the steel industry, later transitioning into entrepreneurship and commercial consulting. He founded the local political association 'Wir Bürger Völklingen' in 2018 and served as the district mayor of Völklingen from 2019 to 2024.
