Steven Holt

Steven Holt is an American politician and retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving as a Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives since 2015. Representing District 12, he has chaired the House Judiciary Committee since 2019. Holt is known for his staunch conservative policy positions, including advocating for gun rights, school choice, and the restriction of abortion access. He has been a prominent figure in legislative efforts to ban guaranteed income programs and was instrumental in the 2025 legislation that removed gender identity as a protected class from the Iowa Civil Rights Act.
