Kei Takagi is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Tokyo, he began his career as a staff member for the Democratic Socialist Party before serving three terms each in the Kita City Council and the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, where he held leadership roles including Secretary-General of the LDP caucus. First elected to the national Diet in 2017, he currently represents the Tokyo 12th district. Takagi is known for his conservative policy stances, supporting constitutional reform—including the addition of an emergency clause and the formal recognition of the Self-Defense Forces—and opposing selective separate surname systems for married couples. He currently serves as the Chairman of the LDP's Foreign Affairs Division.
