Shinji Takeuchi is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors for the Komeito party. Born in Katsushika, Tokyo, he graduated from Waseda University's School of Political Science and Economics. Before entering politics, he worked as a journalist for the Komei Shimbun, the official newspaper of Komeito, where he eventually served as political editor and editor-in-chief. Takeuchi first entered the House of Councillors in 2017 via proportional representation following a vacancy. He was re-elected in 2022 with the highest number of votes within his party. He has served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, Cabinet Office, and Reconstruction.
