Tamara el-Zein

Tamara el-Zein is a Lebanese physical chemist, academic, and politician who has served as the Minister of Environment since February 2025. Before entering government, she was a distinguished scientist and the first woman to lead the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS-L) in Lebanon. An expert in radioactive decontamination, she has received international recognition for her work, including the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science fellowship. As a minister, she has focused on structural reform, digital transformation, and green public procurement.
