Taranjit Singh Sandhu is an Indian politician and former career diplomat who has served as the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi since March 2026. A member of the Indian Foreign Service from 1988 to 2024, he held several high-profile diplomatic positions, including High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka and Ambassador of India to the United States. During his diplomatic tenure, he was instrumental in strengthening strategic partnerships, particularly with the United States, and managing complex geopolitical relations. Following his retirement from the foreign service, he entered electoral politics as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate before assuming his current gubernatorial role.
