Thani Mohamed Soilihi is a French politician who has served as a Senator for Mayotte since 2011, with a brief interruption in 2024-2025. A lawyer by profession, he previously served as a municipal councillor in Sada and held the position of Vice-President of the Senate from 2017 to 2020, becoming the first parliamentarian from the overseas territories to hold that office since Gaston Monnerville. Between 2024 and 2025, he served as Secretary of State and later Minister Delegate for Francophonie and International Partnerships in the Barnier and Bayrou governments. In December 2025, he was appointed president of the committee overseeing the reconstruction law for Mayotte following cyclone Chido. Throughout his career, he has been involved in major legislative debates, supporting measures such as marriage equality and the constitutionalization of abortion rights.
