Born in Somers, Wisconsin, in 1987, he earned his bachelor's degree from Marquette University and his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Before his election to the state legislature in 2019, McGuire worked as a legislative aide and as an assistant district attorney in Milwaukee County. He has been re-elected to the Assembly multiple times since his initial special election victory.
