Tom Alweendo

Tom Alweendo is a Namibian politician and businessperson who serves as a Member of the National Assembly of Namibia and previously held the position of Minister of Mines and Energy from 2018 to 2025. He began his career in financial leadership, becoming the first Namibian Governor of the Bank of Namibia in 1997, and later led the National Planning Commission starting in 2010. During his tenure in public service, he focused on economic stability, maintaining the Namibian dollar's linkage with the South African rand, and addressing government debt and educational expenditure outcomes. He is educated at the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Wales.
