Ton Heerts

Ton Heerts is a Dutch politician and administrator who has served as the Mayor of Apeldoorn since December 2019. Before entering local government, he had a distinguished career in the military and trade union movement, serving as an officer in the Royal Marechaussee and later as the chairman of the FNV trade union federation. He also served as a member of the House of Representatives for the Labour Party (PvdA) between 2006 and 2010, where he focused on social security and justice policy. In 2025, he began his second six-year term as mayor.
