上野通子

Michiko Ueno is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Tochigi Prefecture constituency. A member of the Liberal Democratic Party, she previously served as a Tochigi Prefectural Assembly member and held various government roles, including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister. Ueno is known for her conservative political stances, including support for constitutional revision and the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities, while opposing selective separate surnames for married couples and same-sex marriage.
