Unity Dow

Unity Dow is a Motswana politician, lawyer, author, human rights activist, and Member of Parliament for Kgatleng West since October 2024. She formerly served as a judge on the High Court of Botswana and in various government ministerial roles, including Minister of Education and Skills Development and Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation. A prominent advocate for human and women's rights, she was the plaintiff in the landmark 1992 legal case Unity Dow v Attorney-General, which ended gender discrimination in Botswana's nationality laws, and she later served as the presiding judge in the pivotal 2006 Roy Sesana case regarding indigenous land rights.
