Urte Schwerdtner is a German politician and the current Mayor of the city of Goslar in Lower Saxony, having assumed office in November 2021. Before her election as mayor, she served as a member of the Goslar City Council starting in 2011 and led the SPD parliamentary group from 2014. Professionally, Schwerdtner is a trained lawyer who worked as a public prosecutor and later as a judge at the district courts of Goslar and Braunschweig, eventually serving as deputy director of the Goslar District Court. She is also the chair of the supervisory board of the energy provider Harz Energie.
