Wendell Gilliard

Wendell G. Gilliard is an American politician and former union official currently serving as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives for the 111th District. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Gilliard previously worked as a plant operator and held leadership roles within the United Steelworkers. His legislative career has been marked by a focus on civil rights, including his persistent advocacy for hate crime legislation and the removal of the Confederate flag from state grounds. In addition to his legislative duties, he serves as a special advisor for the City of Charleston.
