Sachiko Yamamoto is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Mie Prefecture constituency. After graduating from Kobe University and completing a master's degree in development studies at Ohio University, she worked in the tourism industry for approximately two decades. Her political career includes serving as a member of the Mie Prefectural Assembly before her election to the national Diet in 2022. She has held positions such as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Director of the Women's Bureau of the Liberal Democratic Party. Politically, she supports constitutional reform, including the explicit mention of the Self-Defense Forces in Article 9, and advocates for strengthening Japan's defense capabilities.
