Before entering parliament, he had a distinguished career as a prosecutor and later as a prominent defense attorney, known for representing high-profile clients and human rights cases, including the Zhanaozen events and the defense of Sayragul Sauytbay. He has been active in public advocacy, notably co-founding the 'Abyroy' association to protest environmental issues and Russian rocket testing in Kazakhstan.
