Akiko Ikuina is a Japanese politician and former actress, singer, and television personality. She first gained national prominence in the 1980s as a member of the idol group Onyanko Club and its sub-unit Ushirogami Hikaretai. Following a successful career in television drama and variety programs, she entered politics and was elected to the House of Councillors in 2022 representing the Tokyo district. In 2024, she was appointed as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs in the second Ishiba Cabinet. Ikuina has been a vocal advocate for work-style reform, drawing on her personal experiences as a cancer survivor and working mother to shape her policy interests.
