Akishi Yamashita is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Mitoyo in Kagawa Prefecture. Born in 1966 in Takase-cho, he graduated from Kokugakuin University before working as a producer and presenter at Setonaikai Broadcasting. He entered politics in 2011, serving as a member of the Kagawa Prefectural Assembly for the Liberal Democratic Party. In 2017, he was elected Mayor of Mitoyo and has since been re-elected. During his tenure, he notably oversaw the introduction of a partnership oath system for same-sex couples in 2020, making Mitoyo the first municipality in Shikoku to implement such a policy.
