Alan Strickland is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor since 2024. Raised in Newton Aycliffe, he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Merton College, Oxford, where he served as president of the student union. Before his election to Parliament, Strickland worked as a local councillor in Haringey from 2010 to 2018 and held a directorship at the housing provider Southern Housing. In his parliamentary work, he has highlighted his family's history in the Durham coalfields.
