A member of the centre-right party Forza Italia, he previously served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019. His extensive political career includes roles as a regional minister for education, tourism, and sport in Piedmont, as well as serving as Deputy Mayor of Alba. Cirio, who holds a law degree from the University of Turin, also serves as a deputy secretary of Forza Italia and head of the Italian delegation to the European Committee of the Regions.
