Aleksandrs Kiršteins is a Latvian architect and politician currently serving as a member of the Saeima. Throughout his long political career, he has served in seven convocations of the Saeima and was a member of the Supreme Council of Latvia. Previously, he held the position of Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Kiršteins has been a prominent figure in Latvian politics, though his career has been marked by various controversies, including his expulsion from the People's Party in 2005 and investigations regarding his public statements. In 1997, he was awarded the French National Order of Merit.
