Alessandro Zan

Alessandro Zan is an Italian politician and activist currently serving as a Member of the European Parliament. A prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ rights movement, he previously served as a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, where he gained national recognition for promoting the 'Ddl Zan,' a legislative proposal aimed at combating discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal advocate for civil rights, having served as a city councilor and assessor in Padua, where he successfully championed the creation of the first municipal registry for de facto unions in Italy.
