Alexander Kästner is a German politician currently serving as a member of the Landtag of Thuringia, having been elected in 2024 as a representative of the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW). Before entering state politics, he worked as a self-employed lawyer in Meiningen and Wasungen after completing his legal studies at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena. In addition to his political career, he has served as the president of the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district sports federation since 2018. Previously, he was a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and ran as a candidate for the Bundestag in 2009.
