Alexander Kalouti

Alexander Kalouti is a German politician who has served as the Mayor of Dortmund since November 1, 2025. Born in Beirut to a Palestinian father and a German mother, he studied at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and King's College London. Before his election, he worked in public relations for the Theater Dortmund. Kalouti began his political career with the FDP before joining the CDU in 2021. He made history by becoming the first CDU mayor of Dortmund since 1946 after winning the 2025 runoff election.
