Alexandr Petkov is a Moldovan politician and historian who has served as the Mayor of Bălți since November 2023. Previously, he was a member of the Moldovan Parliament from 2010 to 2014, representing the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM). Throughout his career, he has also worked as a political analyst and served as the editor-in-chief and director of the OMEGA news agency. In 2004, he briefly held the position of Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Moldova.
