Ali Esbati is an Iranian-Swedish politician and economist who served as a member of the Swedish Riksdag from 2014 to 2024. Born in Tehran, he moved to Sweden in 1986 and later became a prominent figure in the Left Party, serving as the chairman of Young Left from 2001 to 2004 and as the party's economic spokesperson from 2022 to 2024. Known for his early influence as a political blogger, Esbati is also a published author and a survivor of the 2011 Utøya shooting in Norway. He holds a degree in economics from the Stockholm School of Economics.
