Alison Hume is a British Labour Party politician and former television screenwriter who has served as the Member of Parliament for Scarborough and Whitby since 2024. Before entering formal politics, she worked as a successful screenwriter and producer, known for creating the CBBC series The Sparticle Mystery. Hume became a prominent disability rights campaigner after her son was born with a rare chromosomal disorder, eventually co-founding York Accessibility Action. Her political career includes standing as a candidate in the 2019 European Parliament election and the 2021 North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner election before her successful 2024 parliamentary campaign.
