Born in Bone Regency, he holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Hasanuddin University and previously worked in the private sector, specifically in marine engineering services. He entered politics in 2018 when he was elected as the Vice Governor of South Sulawesi. Following the arrest of his predecessor, Nurdin Abdullah, he served as acting governor before being officially appointed as the full Governor in 2022. During his tenure, he has implemented policies such as requiring civil servants to engage in religious practices during the workday.
