André Ventura

André Ventura is a Portuguese politician, jurist, and university professor who serves as the founder and leader of the political party Chega. Since his election to the Assembly of the Republic in 2019, he has positioned himself as an anti-system figure, advocating for economic liberalism, cultural nationalism, and conservative social policies. A former member of the Social Democratic Party, Ventura has gained significant national attention for his controversial rhetoric regarding immigration, minorities, and the Portuguese judicial system. He has also served as a member of the Council of State and has been a prominent, albeit polarizing, voice in Portuguese politics, often described by international media as a far-right leader.
