Rui Cristina

Rui Celestino dos Santos Cristina is a Portuguese politician and civil engineer currently serving as the Mayor of Albufeira. Formerly a member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), he served as a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic for the XIV and XV legislatures before joining the Chega party in 2024. During his parliamentary career, he represented the constituencies of Évora and Beja. In October 2025, he was elected Mayor of Albufeira, ending the long-standing governance of the PSD and CDS-PP in the municipality. His political platform has emphasized the preservation of Portuguese cultural identity and local economic priorities.
