Andrzej Melak

Andrzej Melak is a Polish social activist and local government official serving as a member of the Masovian Voivodeship Regional Assembly for its 7th term. A long-standing democratic opposition collaborator during the Polish People's Republic, he co-founded the Katyn Committee in 1979 to commemorate the victims of the Katyn massacre and later served as its president following the death of his brother in the 2010 Smolensk air disaster. He was previously a member of the Sejm of the VIII term representing Law and Justice, as well as a long-serving Warsaw city councillor.
